 Chapter 3 brings up multiple intriguing points about technology in the classroom and how it can be used to aid the learning process for students. As time moves on I believe the push for an increased presence of technology in the classroom will continue and become even more prominent than it is right now. There are a few things that I thought about when reading the chapter. One is that students can thrive more if they can apply what they learn to something interactive and interesting other than the fundamental lessons we think of in school. When students can use the things they learn they will feel more invested in what they are learning and can see a purpose behind it which can lead to more involvement and better educational outcomes. Another thought is that there needs to be a happy medium, there can be technology in the class to aid development and learning, but too much could lead to distractions and dependence on this technology.       Chapter 3 is about integrating technology into the classroom. Technology has changed the classroom, especially in history. Now documents are widely available online and are easy to access for both students and teachers. Students no longer need to read out of a textbook, as it can be found online. they can look up the questions and find the answer to homework. There are both positives and negatives to technology in the classroom. Students can use technology to use different software to make powerpoints, websites, and more.      On the other hand, they can also cheat and use SparkNotes or look up answers to quizzes. I am favorable towards tech in the classroom because it makes classes more interesting rather than listening and taking notes day in and day out. Giving students variety will interest the students and give them a grasp on new software as well as new information.

 Chapter 3 was about digitizing the history classroom. There were four waves of technology advances that went through for classrooms. The introduction of this chapter leads off with lecturing. "In the 1980s, teachers were given access to a new type of teaching room: the computer lab" (pg. 80). This had an effect on students and helped focus they're mind on a new way of learning. The first wave was teaching historians to count and code. With this new wave there are three ways students encountered technology in classroom. For example switching classrooms, like classroom to computer lab. The second wave is Silicon Valley and "cool" teaching. This is showing students how to adopt new technology and connect it to engage in creativity and experimentation. The third one is method without math.  The way a class is taught is one of the most important things that decides if a class is good or not.  Like the chapter began, the classroom is constantly changing.  These changes must be accepted or the class or instructor will be left behind.  With the addition of technology, classes have been able to become much more advanced and in depth.  Going along with the addition of technology, an anti-secrecy agenda was also being carried.  With the involvement of free immediate knowledge through technology, it is much easier to fact check and make sure that everything being said is true.  Since history is a collection of data, it makes sense that some of the first coders were historians.  These historians were able to take their data and synthesize it with their online material which allowed them to see a bigger picture or discover a hidden truth.  

 In Chapter 3 the author discusses the different ways that history and social studies has been taught inside schools. Crymble discusses throughout the chapter different methods that are used in the classroom, because some are not as useful as others are. The main method of teaching that has been used in the classroom has been lecture, which is starting to fade away a little bit for other forms that are more hands on. This chapter also discusses VR which is virtual reality which is now a great source of technology that is used in the classroom. Technology is the new form of learning that is used everywhere but needs to be incorporated more inside the classroom. There are many forms of technology that are important in our everyday lives that we need to adapt in classrooms because there are generally newer forms of learning other than lecture.

 In chapter 3, Crymble focused a lot on the different ways technology has been incorporated into the history classroom over the past few decades. He talks about how the method of lecturing can no longer be the sole teaching method that teachers use because of how far society has come technologically. With the use of things like augmented reality and virtual reality there are endless possibilities for what can be taught in classrooms now. There are so many more opportunities for students to learn with the advancements that have come around in recent years and Crymble is arguing that teachers need to utilize these as much as they can. This is really interesting because lectures are such a standard method of delivering instruction so it seems very outside of the box to use something such as AR to teach a lesson. VR can be very useful because you can teach students about a place or thing you would have no way of ever getting them to in person but something about AR seems very daunting....

 Chapter 3 in Crymble's book focuses on the education process and the changes needed in order to make the classroom more digital. The traditional system is not the best option for educational purposes in the way it was years ago. Crymble mentioned a couple different ways in which the history classroom can incorporate technology such as focusing on bringing experiences into the classroom in ways such as augmented reality/virtual reality. Virtual reality allows specific occurrences to be brought into the students' lives that they did not experience before.  I think this chapter was interesting and brought me new ideas about technology in the classroom that I did not think about before. 

       The chapter does a good job illustrating the educational situation that the traditional lecture faces.  The explanations of the attributes of both the lecture and the continuous changes that face digital history are excellent in giving the reader a well rounded understanding of the academic sector and digitalization.  The concept of VARK was something that I personally found most interesting.  The discussion over types of learning seems as though it will be highly influential in the development of digital history, as digitalization can be more varied for various types of learners.     The first and second methods of digital teachings seem to be far less applicable to the broader educational system, where as the 3 seems as if it is the most impactful for digital history.  This focus on the computer and its abilities as well as what both a student and educator could do with computing and a massive amount of infor...

 I think Crymble in chapter 3 definitely reached his goal on talking all about how to digitize the history classroom. he talks a lot about how the traditional system in lecture is still around today because it was one of the original teaching methods. but now with technology being increased around the world, we must look for ways to incorporate it into the classroom. Crymble identifies a problem and a solution for technology in the classroom being needed. he dives into some research that suggested that we need to modernize the history classrooms with technology. he identifies David Kolb's 4-part process and explains why it did not work. in general, he spends a lot of time in this chapter just identifying new ways to utilize technology in the classroom.
