Chapter 2

 i thought chapter 2 was very interesting.  The term digital history is one of the more modern terms but encompasses most of all the knowledge history holds.  many historical archives have been digitized and put online for everyone to access.  this idea has allowed for information to spread and be added to more readily than ever thought possible.  two historians can be working towards the same idea at the same time on different sides of the planet.  Although things being put online is a great thing, this is something that others capitalize on through copyright.  Copyright allows a person to own a thing, idea, or concept.  with this, they can control who can and can not use certain things.  this is hazardous for freedom of speech, especially with history since it is hard to own history

Chapter 3

 Chapter 3 was about digitizing the history classroom. There were four waves of technology advances that went through for classrooms. The introduction of this chapter leads off with lecturing. "In the 1980s, teachers were given access to a new type of teaching room: the computer lab" (pg. 80). This had an effect on students and helped focus they're mind on a new way of learning. The first wave was teaching historians to count and code. With this new wave there are three ways students encountered technology in classroom. Chapter 4

 The chapter brought about the interesting concept that the overwhelming presence and level of opportunities made it paradoxically blinding.  The idea developed by the author here is that the immense level of skills that could be applied in the new age of history have left some people in a situation where they believe they are not contributing at all.  The author describes this problem by demonstrating that older generations of historians could look to solve their problems with guides or  broad scale help whereas the current generation needs help on an almost individual level due to the speed at which technology has progressed. Chapter 5

Chapter 5 talks about the rise and fall of Scholarly Blogs. These started out as scholarly journals which started in 1665, published in Pairs. Starting with the postal system then moved through to social media and blogs there were new virtual communities of historians that developed. This transformed a new era of Digital communication. With the changing of technology developments allowed historians to communicate in new ways and gave them new opportunities to share their ideas. This chapter really made me understand what an evolution it was to be able to blog. The second wave of blogging is writing together. Historians are able to work together, giving different outlooks, and breaking down some challenges that they were not able to do before this. Blogging has led to new ideas and new voices in the study of history.
